Pertinent Playlist #1: Eclipse Has Begun

The first in our series of pertinent playlists is Eclipse Has Begun, created for the solar eclipse canvaeclipse of 2017. Each time I heard the word “eclipse” mentioned, another song popped into my head. How many sun, moon, earth, or eclipse songs can you think of? Before you answer, don’t say “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler…I try to avoid the obvious in life. (That goes for Corey Hart’s “I Wear My Sunglasses at Night,” as well.) While we await the next solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, start thinking about more songs…or write your own!

*UPDATED AND EXPANDED for 2024: Has it really been almost seven years? A lot has changed in the world. Well, mainly in the U.S. If you’ve been under the eclipse rock since last time, you’ve missed a lot.

So, we’ve added a few new tunes for this go ’round. Also added are a couple of meaningful songs to address the recent rumors that this may end it all. The playlist begins with a moon age daydream, then quickly takes a downward spiral into the Rapture and the end of the world. Be careful out there. See you in 2045.
