Live X: Love Spit Love at Catspaw Studios in Atlanta, June 18, 1994
Richard Butler took a break from fronting the Psychedelic Furs in 1994, releasing the self-titled debut Love Spit Love. Butler’s unmistakable voice made the songs not a far reach from those of the Furs. Butler enlisted his brother and Furs bandmate, Tim. He also hired two other musicians to fill the void of what was intended to be his first solo record. After warming up to each other, they decided it would be a new band.
I recall being present at this session and speaking with Butler about his future. He mentioned a project in the works with R.E.M.’s Peter Buck. Not sure if that ever happened.
