Strangers In A Strange Land Drop Sharp New Single

New Release: “World in Action” by Strangers In A Strange Land

They say what comes around goes around. The California band Strangers In A Strange Land, clearly inspired by the mood of the 60s, have mastered that sound with a reminder of the musically rich decade. Longtime collaborators Paul Kopf and Alec Palao, already bandmates in both The Seeds and Tall Poppy Syndrome, wrote and recorded “World in Action.” The album, recorded during the pandemic, is due for release October 2.

The psychedelic popness on the single is evident and there are hooks aplenty. Make no mistake, this is no throwback sound, but a relevant 21st century rock song. Kopf takes on lead and background vocals while Palao handles guitar, keyboards and bass. The prolific drumming of Prairie Prince (The Tubes, Chris Isaak) livens up the sound even more. At the helm for several tunes on the upcoming LP is famed producer Shel Talmy (The Kinks, The Who), putting his magic touch on the tune as he’s done for multiple artists over his six decades in the music business.

Strangers have been teasing fans for a minute with singles “Poison Chalice,” “Broken Tambourine,” and “Ring My Bell” (the latter a collaboration with Vince Melouney of The Bee Gees). These three singles, all from 2020, were recorded with Grammy nominated artists Clem Burke on drums and Jonathan Lea on lead guitar. Here’s hoping these great tunes will be included on the new album in October!
