There's music to be heard

Nihilist Cheerleader Drop Infectious Single

By No Earplugs on May 8, 2023 • ( Leave a comment )

Head cheerleader and unassuming riot-grrrl-next-door Flynne Collins leads a full-on assault on the senses in the new single. Each musician leaves everything on the field and their skillful musicianship is evident.

Vectralux Rock the Star Bar

By No Earplugs on April 28, 2023 • ( Leave a comment )

The band members’ other lives involve some blue-collarish professions far, far away from the rock music universe. Their life experiences and education have culminated in some smart and tasty music.

Pertinent Playlist #14: Spoon Take Cover

By No Earplugs on April 3, 2023 • ( Leave a comment )

Everyone who’s anyone knows that Spoon is one of the most underrated bands around. Their style and unique sound is unmatched. However, to hear them cover others is a cover lover’s dream.

Vectralux Evolve on Follow-up

“This is a more organic and group effort than the first record. Kelly and I share a common love of British Invasion and Prog Rock. Hannibal is authentically a 90s alt-rock vet. All three of us were KISS fans.

John Mayer Bares All

By No Earplugs on March 27, 2023 • ( Leave a comment )

Mayer’s solo tour is a stripped-down, acoustic marvel. He mentioned during the performance how appreciative he was that, “All of you showed up for just me and my guitar.”

Goodmood Moves On

By No Earplugs on March 26, 2023 • ( Leave a comment )

There is no argument that Goodmood has assisted many in the music community. An obvious silver lining is Covid has waned and bands are touring again.

Kmieciak Loosens the Handcuffs

‘Within Shadows’ is a menagerie of sounds which may feel right at home on a ‘Twin Peaks’ soundtrack, but more introspective than creepy.

A Good Start for The Bad Ends

By No Earplugs on January 28, 2023 • ( Leave a comment )

The sound of The Power and The Glory seems to have launched from left field. A band sprung from some unfamiliar place yet wielding the sonic prowess of a group exhibiting the tight and right sounds of grizzled music veterans (which collectively, they are).

By No Earplugs on December 15, 2022 • ( Leave a comment )

The five-song EP Chronic Town was R.E.M.’s debut, released on August 24, 1982. This date marked the introduction of something completely different, changing the American music landscape forever. The band soon became college rock architects and icons.

R.E.M. Explored with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

By No Earplugs on September 30, 2022 • ( Leave a comment )

McDuffie prompted Mills to create a piece which they could perform together. In short order, Mills came up with Concerto for Violin, Rock Band and String Orchestra. It’s an incredible concerto considering the life he’s led through rock music. Fans were able to delve deep into Mills’ creative mind, as well as find those recognizable R.E.M. nuggets from yore.
